Breuer’s first important breakthrough in modern furniture design was this classic: the Model B3 chair, later named the Wassily Chair in honor of his friend Wassily Kandinsky.
Unlike most early modern architecture that was built using old construction methods and merely looked technically advanced, Breuer’s bent steel furniture, was, as he said, “not only symbolic of our modern technology, it is actually modern technology itself!.”
